Six UBUCers headed down to North Devon for an early Saturday morning start to catch a charter boat to Lundy Island with Wild Frontiers. A few of us camped locally the night before and woke up to sea views and a beautiful sunny day!<\/span><\/p>\n

After an hour\u2019s sail we arrived in a sheltered bay under the gorgeous cliffs of Lundy and quickly suited up eager to see what we had come for: friendly grey seals! The bay was covered in kelp forest and we were treated to a long 70 minute shallow dive playing with the very curious seals who enjoyed nibbling our fins and booping the cameras.<\/span><\/p>\n

As if the seals weren\u2019t enough, a pod of common dolphins turned up to swim beside and under our boat \u2014 with the blue skies too it was almost like being back in the Red Sea!<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

After the dolphins left we ate our lunch in the sun on board, and then headed around the island for a second dive in a bay through more kelp forest and past caves and gullies in the cliffs. We were treated to more friendly seals and gorgeous ethereal blue jellyfish.<\/p>\n

Definitely worth another trip back to walk in the island with puffins, and dive some of the wrecks around the island that weren\u2019t accessible this early in the season. All in all a fantastic sunny day of diving, dolphins and awesome seal encounters!<\/span><\/p>\n
