11 divers descended to swanage bright and early, except Joe, of course, who was blissfully in bed ignoring our calls.<\/p>\n
The goal of today\u2019s diving was a lot of drysuit training in preparation for Skomer and some well needed fun diving! We started the day off with a miraculously shallow pier dive starring sightings of crabs, cuttle fish and flaccid DSMBs.<\/p>\n
Taking no interest off the \u201cno pier jumping\u201d signs, we giant stride entried off of what felt like a cliff into mildly green waters.<\/p>\n
Despite an early start, we were overcome with faff and the notion of diving in waves disappeared. Timings aside, pier diving was mostly a success with Ash, James and quite a few others experiencing significant sogginess.<\/p>\n
After warming up and sheltering from the wind, spirits were still high in anticipation of our upcoming charter boat dive.<\/p>\n
We shuffled together, making good time for ropes off to dive the Fleur and the barge. These 12m wrecks were connected by a line and offered us a lovely drift between the two. The dive was full of adventures starting with Jack and an underwater rave with his disco torch. Tilly was elated upon seeing the prop of the fleur, Dom was pleased with some nudibranchs and James and Steph spent their dive looking at a suspiciously cuttlefish shaped rock (which turned out to just be a rock)! Whilst Bryony and Sophie were rescuing the fins of Sian and Anna, Zainab reported sightings of a massive conga eel and a crab worthy of a feast.<\/p>\n
We were then baffled by the luxury of Brian and his Mary Jo charter service. Us cheapskate university students revelled in using a lift and being offered a hot drink (or soup!) upon surfacing.<\/p>\n
We wrapped up the day with a stop at maccies and a detour to Yeovil before returning to stores fed and happy!<\/p>\n
