On a sunny Friday morning, 4 UBUCers made the journey down to babbacombe for some fun dives. Upon arrive conditions looked calm although high tide was slowly slipping away so we quickly got kitted up and into the water.

James and I went exploring around the pier to the right of the bay and spent our dive picking up finishing lines and other litter from the ocean floor. Although vis was not pleasant, we saw some large crabs along the bottom and got to depth of 7m (quite impressively for babbacombe)! Due to some problems with my drysuit, we surfaced early and faced the long swim back to shore.

Next, Steph and newly qualified sports diver Max (yayyy!) embarked on their dive out towards the mushroom rock in the middle of the bay. Unfortunately by then tide was low and the vis was not much better. Devastatingly, Steph impaled her foot in a sharp rock and ripped a hole in her drysuit boot!

We concluded that they weren’t our best dives but was a nice day out so we stopped by a nearby pub and had lunch plus a few pints by the ocean. All in all, a decent day!
