On 3rd October, 16 of us headed down to Brixham for an exciting day of diving organized by Nick!

Despite the occasional showers on the drive through Devon, Brixham welcomed us with a very calm sea, a pleasant water temperature of 18°C and surprisingly good visibility. We were even treated to a visit from a seal!

The plan for the day was fairly packed, with Nick and Dom running refreshers, while Edu and Steph were busy with Sports Diver training – Edu with Stas and Jasmine, and Steph with Tom and Sam. (Thank you!!!) Tom and Sam still found time for some scalloping, joined by Nick, and the three came back with bags full of scallops.

Four waves of diving and a few hot chocolates later, we packed up and returned to Bristol with thirty or so freshly caught scallops. (A word of advice for future scallopers: bring a bucket! I am worried that the dry bag used to bring the scallops back will never smell the same…)

Once we got back and cleared away our gear, the unlucky few went on to train future Ocean Divers, while the rest went home for a feast. And judging by the photo, Nell’s scallops were definitely the best-looking of the lot.
