To mark the start of term a small collection of 4 divers travelled down to meet Georgia in her new home of Plymouth. The plan was simple, one dive on Eastern Kings. Buddied together Joe and I took our sweet fucking time getting kitted up whilst Alex, Georgia and Dom headed down to get in the water at slack.
The dive began with a swim out to the edge of the swimmers buoys with the water being a pleasant 19°C (warmer than some points of my Gozo dives). Descending to ~7m Joe was immediately met with a rock. Smooth on the top with little spots and a bit of seaweed hanging off the front. Several moments passed before Joe realised, with some fear, that this rock was in fact a cuttlefish and had been watching him the whole time.
The dive continued down to a depth of ~30m filled with spiny lobster, other fish things, big lobster boys and an abandoned cleat. A very nice shore dive up there as my favourite UK shore dive. Unfortunately, any pictures are lost to the sea due to Dom being a silly billy and dropping his GoPro 🙁
With just the one dive planned we headed for lunch, joined by Dom’s sister, which was nice but not very reasonably priced. Very good start to the diving year!!
