Babbacombe Beach is a favorite dive site with the club. Located in Torbay it is a fairly easy drive from Bristol and with a traditional stop off at McDonalds there is a handy breakfast/lunch outlet.
The car park overlooks the shore with easy access and no currents make for a pleasant shore dive. Depths can reach around 10m with the right tide and the vis tends to be fairly good. Babbacombe is also great for night diving with lots of marine life making an appearance after the sun goes down. Watch out for the fishermen around the pier.
Babbacombe is the location of legendary and the aptly named Babbacome Booze-up. This dive trip is much less about the diving than the socialising. Happening in November it is a great chance to get to know people in the club and get some UK diving experience. Just remember, don’t drink and dive.
