Instructions

Wash

[Lux cylinder manual](http://ubuc.org/maintenance/Manual.php?id=LuxVisual)Wash the cylinder in clean soapy water. Remove the boot and inspect and wash under the boot [Equipment and Signals](http://ubuc.org/maintenance/Manual.php?id=OT2) .

Inspect

[Lux cylinder manual](http://ubuc.org/maintenance/Manual.php?id=LuxVisual)Look over the surface of the cylinder for any obvious defects and record them. Roll it on a flat surface checking for distortion. Turn it upside down and listen for loose items or liquid moving inside

Check

If the cylinder is in use then fit a reg to the cylinder and verify the tap turns on and off easily and that the O-ring is in good condition. Breath from the reg and check for any odd taste in the air. Check the pressure in the cylinder.

Status

To distinguish Nitrox Cylinders a cylinder should have a Green Valve Handle only if its O2Clean is in date and nothing has been logged indicating that it is not clean. Otherwise it must have a Black Valve Handle. Cylinders that are broken are distinguished by the plastic handle being removed. Removal and re-fitting of the cylinder valve handle requires the Valve Handle Wrench.

Store

To prevent water entering the service the cylinder must not be fully drained. <warning type="danger">If the cylinder is not in service due to being out of date then the gas left in it should not exceed 5 bars of pressure</warning>

Check Date Stamp

Check the last recorded date for the cylinders TestH matches the date stamped onto the shoulder of the cylinder.

Record

Verify that a UBUC Label is attached and log completion of the inspection, the items operational status and any conditional comments.
